Filibuster "nuclear bomb" averted...for the moment

Sensible Senators saved the U.S. Senate from the shameful, self-serving situational ethicists. A group of very skilled Senators hammered out a compromise that allows a yes-no vote on President Bush's judicial nominees without dropping the filibuster "nuclear bomb." (Hey, great name for a bomb, don't you think? The Filibuster.)

Here's a list of good people in the Senate from both sides of the aisle who worked out the compromise:

Republicans
Lincoln Chafee, R.I.
Susan Collins, Maine
Mike DeWine, Ohio
Lindsey Graham, S.C.
John McCain, Ariz.
Olympia Snowe, Maine
John Warner, Va.

Democrats
Robert Byrd, W.Va.
Daniel Inouye, Hawaii
Mary Landrieu, La.
Joe Lieberman, Conn.
Ben Nelson, Neb.
Mark Pryor, Ark.
Ken Salazar, Colo.
