Karl Rove and Valerie Plame: The I didn't do it, my hand did it defense
The Bush Administration lost all credibility for me about two stolen elections ago, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Karl Rove, who exposed Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA operative, is now using the "I didn't do it, my hand did it" defense. In this story in the Washington Post, Rove's lawyer plays along:
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove spoke with at least one reporter about Valerie Plame's role at the CIA before she was identified as a covert agent in a newspaper column two years ago, but Rove's lawyer said yesterday that his client did not identify her by name. From the very group who nearly brought down Bill Clinton's presidency over the "It depends on what the definition of is, is" phrase comes this outright lie. Rove didn't break the law and identify her by name, their story goes, he just called her "the wife of Ambassador Joe Wilson."
I've said it before, these guys, Rove being the worst of them, have no shame. The worst part: they keep getting away with it.
