Word of the Day Blogging: Pleonastic

Pleonastic: Using or containing an excessive number of words: diffuse, long-winded, periphrastic, prolix, redundant, verbose, wordy. See excess/insufficiency/enough, style/good style/bad style, words.

Sent to iFlipFlop by the WordMensch from 48Facets. He wasn't pleonastic. His note said, "New fave word." Beautiful.

Recalls one of my favorite phrases: Thank goodness for the man, who when nothing else needs to be said doesn't spend 15 minutes proving it.
