What is it about Denny's and 3AM?

Is there something in Denny's $1.99 pancakes at 3AM that brings out the worst in people? This week's case involves an NFL defensive back (and his buddies) pounding a lone guy with a laptop and a Grand Slam into scrapple. Let's see what Ricky Manning Jr.'s excuse will be. At the moment, I'm going with the "Cynthia McKinney made me do it" defense.
