iPhone Mania, It's Running Wild!

Yep, I got an iPhone. And I have to say, I'm delighted. It's better than I thought it would be. It was a fun event waiting for the phone at AT&T in Philadelphia, even though we ended up Numbers 117 and 118 and they only had 90 iPhones that day. Here's a few pix from that event.

Mayor Street and Charlie

This picture was taken just before 6pm on Friday. I sorta kinda interrupted the Mayor to ask if he'd pose for a picture. I was like the thousandth person to do that on iDay. He was really gracious.

Mayor John Street Lets John Q. Public Hold His New iPhone

This was really cool. Mayor Street was third in line to get an iPhone, and as soon as he came out of the store he let people hold his new iPhone. I have to say that was pretty generous. It's a new toy, and who wants something like that to get smudged by someone else first?

Contrary to What You Might Have Heard, Mayor Street Was Working the Whole Time He Was in Line

I know people were riding Mayor Street for waiting in line for an iPhone while there's some pretty serious city business to attend to. The funny part: He was working the whole time. When the mayor wasn't talking to members of the public he was talking to aides or working his Blackberry. You can see that he was working in this shot. I mean, yeah, there's a horrific murder rate in the city. But what in the hell is the guy going to do, create a new crime initiative on a Friday afternoon? And it's not like he's Superman and can just go out and stop crime himself if he just wouldn't have been standing in line.

So, I Got iPhones at King of Prussia
Well, no iPhones at AT&T. So at about 8pm I went to KOP, where I scored two 8Gig iPhones. They really are better than I expected, and being a Mac user, I expected a lot. The funny thing is now I want one of those touch screens on my MacBook Pro. Wouldn't that be sweet?
